Amazon Cash to be available in 8,000 7-Eleven convenience stores

Now 8,000 7-Eleven convenience stores will have Amazon Cash the service that allows consumers to add cash to their Amazon account.

This is a large jump in the number of retailers who provide Amazon Cash which was previously available only at CVS Pharmacy, Speedway, GameStop and a few supermarket chains and convenience stores.
Amazon just started their new service in April to provide service for those who do not have credit cards or who simply want to pay in cash.
Amazon joins other companies already serving cash clients such as PayPal which has a My Cash Card already available in numerous retailers including 7-Eleven.
Walmart's Pay With Cash option allows a customer to order on line and then pay cash at the store.
Customers who pay cash still make up 27 percent of consumers. A market that size is worth serving especially if they are not shopping online because they require a debt or credit card at the checkout that they do not have.
Until this new service, customers without proper credit cards would have had to buy an Amazon Gift Card or else add cash to a prepaid payment card to be used at the checkout.
Online retailers realize that they often have deals superior to their brick-and-mortar competitors so they have every reason to ensure that cash customers can order online.
The new service will be simple to us. Customers present to the retailer a barcode found in their Amazon app along with the cash they want to load into their account. The barcode could be printed or sent via a text. The cashier at the store scans the barcode and the amount is added to the customer's account at Amazon.
The customer can add as little as $15 dollars up to a maximum of $500 in one transaction. There are no fees for the service.
The new service is also described here.
7-Eleven a prime provider of alternative methods of payment
7-Eleven also works with Amazon in providing lockers for package delivery from the company. The bright yellow lockers are now available in select stores in more than 300 cities.
7-Eleven also offers Amazon gift cards in denominations for $25 up to $500.
Tony Stapleton, senior product director for 7-Eleven said:“7-Eleven has long been an advocate for giving customers many options on how to pay for products and services. 7-Eleven constantly updates and introduces new forms of payments to respond to continued shifts in customer preferences, lifestyles, and adoption of new technologies.”
The huge chain operates, licenses or franchises 10,900 stores throughout Canada and the US so the present launch will cover most of the stores that are part of the group in the US.
The appended video shows how the Amazon lockers in 7-Eleven stores work.
